CLI intensifies efforts to reduce Scope 1 and 2 emissions through on-ground actions and innovation
CapitaLand Investment Limited (CLI) is intensifying its efforts to reduce Scope 1 and 2 emissions through on-ground actions and innovation, as detailed in its latest Global Sustainability Report. The company has expanded its Scope 3 categories and increased its focus on sustainability targets as part of its 2030 Sustainability Master Plan.
CLI’s Chief Sustainability and Sustainable Investments Officer, Mr. Vinamra Srivastava, highlighted the importance of reducing Scope 3 emissions, which account for the majority of CLI’s total greenhouse gas emissions. The company has increased green leases with tenants in China and Singapore and is collaborating with tenants to strengthen supply chain management through various initiatives.
In addition to expanding its Scope 3 emissions disclosures, CLI has made progress in reducing its Scope 1 and 2 emissions intensity and managing climate-related risks. The company has commissioned a solar power plant in India and expanded its use of green energy across various properties, mitigating carbon emissions equivalent to the annual emissions of over 8,900 petrol-powered cars.
CLI has also focused on innovation as a key lever in its decarbonisation journey, partnering with tenants to testbed innovations from its CapitaLand Sustainability X Challenge. The company aims to achieve 100% green certification for its global portfolio by 2030.
Furthermore, CLI is committed to integrating ESG considerations into its fund management lifecycle and has secured sustainable finance to support its sustainability goals. The company’s carbon mitigation efforts have been recognized by leading global sustainability indices, reinforcing its position as a frontrunner in the sustainable real asset management sector.
As CLI continues to prioritize sustainability and reduce its environmental impact, it remains dedicated to creating a positive impact on the communities where it operates. With a strong commitment to achieving Net Zero carbon emissions by 2050, CLI is setting a high standard for responsible and sustainable real asset management.
